Jan. 15, 2007 - Issue No. 6

Association News

January Association Meeting: Please plan to attend an "unofficial" informational meeting on Tuesday, January 16 at 10am at the home of Jerry & Shirley Vinyard (Flamingos #51). Dues will be accepted and an "off the record" discussion will ensue -- come one and all! Let's get back on track, regroup and come together to make this a better place to live. The Vinyards have an adequate supply of chairs and will provide coffee and water. Members are encouraged to bring goodies to share. Note: In order to finalize our budget for 2007, all dues must be paid prior to the meeting. This is also your last opportunity to be listed in and receive a copy of the Association Phone Directory.

Association Board News: The good news is that Danny Milski has agreed to take over the Presidency; and David Thompson and Keith Hanson have agreed to co-chair the Treasurer position. A sincere thank you to them for stepping up when we needed it most!

Due to the lack of the Board being able (and willing) to attend the January meeting, in addition to Danny Milski being unable to attend due to an important previous commitment in the states, the official "special meeting" that was scheduled for Januray 16, 2007 has been rescheduled for February 13, 2007. An official notice as required by the corporation protocol will follow as we need to vote on the budget, and nominate and elect officers. This is why the January meeting is deemed "unofficial".

Fred Chace has resigned his position as President, does not intend to pay his dues this year, and therefore cannot conduct this "special" meeting. Vice President Lourdes Robles Gonzales has indicated that she may not be able to attend due to personal conflicts. Secretary Brenda Bitkoff has not responded to the Association Board emails recently regarding this issue, so we do not know if she plans to attend and preside in the absense of the other Board Members. As you know, Sue Moss resigned her position as Treasurer over a month ago, and she has kindly agreed to lengthen her term through this month. However, she cannot continue her position due to other business commitments.

We resorted to canvasing door-to-door to collect dues. Harry & Geanie Burnett, Nina Steffens, Mona Cavalli and Allyson Williams went door-to-door collecting dues. After all their efforts, we still only have 50 paid members.

If you are interested in keeping our Association alive and well, we need your help to do it. You, too, need to step up to the plate and volunteer to keep our community beautiful, clean and vibrant. If you do not want to volunteer (or are unable to), please be responsible and do your part by attending the meetings, paying your dues on time, bringing positive ideas to strengthen our membership and our community, and most of all get involved to whatever extent you are able and put some of your "free time" and valuable ideas to good use.

Association Needs: Donations are needed for Harry Burnett to purchase a weedwacker to keep the grass and weeds trimmed along the sidewalks; to repay Danny Milski for fixing the street lights; and to fix the bridge.

Since the Emergency Medical Service began on Jan. 23 2006, they have averaged 60 calls per month. Although the primary area served is Guayabitos, La Peñita and Los Ayala, the towns between Lo de Marcos and Las Varas benefit as well.
